residents of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Climate Resilience:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0To help cities become more climate resilient.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Key Features of the Revised Scheme<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">The revised Nagar Van Yojana includes the following salient features:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Coverage:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0All cities with Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, or Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are proposed to be covered.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Nagar Van Area:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Vans can be developed over a minimum area of 10 hectares, with grants limited to a maximum of 50 hectares.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Nagar Vatika Area:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Vatikas can be developed in congested parts of cities with a minimum area of 1 ha and a maximum of 10 ha.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Location Flexibility:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Van sites can be located up to 5 km from the city limits, considering future expansions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Land Options:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Development is not limited to forest land, but can also include other available land.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Targets:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0The scheme aims to develop 400 Nagar Vans and 200 Nagar Vatikas over four years (2021-22 to 2024-25).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Collaborative Approach:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Municipalities, ULBs, and other land-owning agencies can submit proposals through State Forest Departments.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Public Participation:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Development and management of Nagar Van and Vatika should encourage PPP models with active participation from people, students, and other stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Tree Selection:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Selection of trees should prioritize local species that enrich biodiversity, including fruit-bearing and medicinal plants.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Public Access:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Van\/Vatika must be open to the public, subject to suitable restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Tree Cover:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0At least two-thirds of the area should be under tree cover or woodland.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Components:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Van\/Vatika may include components such as Biodiversity Park, Nakshatra Van, Butterfly Conservatory, Waterbody, Smriti Van, and Herbal Garden.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Financial Assistance:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0The financial assistance component remains at Rs. 4 lakh per hectare.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Financial Modalities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">One-Time Grant:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0The Ministry will provide a one-time development and non-recurring grant to the implementing agency, up to Rs. 2.0 crores for 50 ha.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">State Funding:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Financial assistance from the Government of India is provided as a grant to the State Forest Department (SFD), which further releases funds to implementing agencies within 7 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Collaborative Development:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Nagar Van\/Vatika may be developed through collaboration with various stakeholders, including government departments, NGOs, industries, and civil society.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Participatory Approach:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0A PPP model is encouraged to ensure public participation in planning, implementation, and management.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">User Fees and Grants:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0The implementing agency may levy user fees and receive grants from other sources.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li Accounting:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Detailed accounts of receipts and expenditure must be maintained by each implementing agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Components of Nagar Van\/Nagar Vatika<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">The scheme supports various components within Nagar Van\/Vatika projects, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Fencing of the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Establishment and maintenance of woodlots\/tree cover.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Theme-based plantations (Smriti Van, Nakshatra Van, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Ornamental trees, shrubs, climbers, medicinal plants, flowering plants, and fruit trees.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Irrigation\/rain water harvesting.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Public conveniences, drinking water facilities, benches, walkways, and cycle tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Information and extension centers.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Implementation and Monitoring<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Project Proposals:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Detailed project proposals are formulated by implementing agencies and submitted to the State Forest Department (SFD), which then forwards them to the National Afforestation and Eco-development Board (NAEB).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">State Level Monitoring:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">\u00a0Implementation and monitoring at the state level are the scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Targets and Scope<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">The scheme aims to develop 400 Nagar Vans and 200 Nagar Vatikas over a five-year period (2020-21 to 2024-25).
