Recognizing its importance, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has undertaken a plan scheme to transform NEPA into a &#8220;Centre of Excellence.&#8221; This initiative aims to upgrade the academy&#8217;s infrastructure, enhance its training facilities, and introduce relevant courses to address the specific challenges faced by police forces in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong class=\"ng-star-inserted\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">Background and Transition<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"ng-star-inserted\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ng-star-inserted\">In 2006, it was decided that NEPA would be transferred from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This transfer, effective from April 1, 2007, was intended to ensure professional management of the academy. This scheme was later revised to accommodate increased costs and include new essential works, with a revised budget of Rs. 82.13 crore to be completed by March 2014.
